The Asansull Summer School in La Línea de la Concepción has opened its doors to assist 90 minors, providing three daily meals for vulnerable families and an adapted space for children with intellectual disabilities. The visit to the facilities was attended by the mayor, Juan Franco, the deputy mayor for Social Affairs, Zuleica Molina, the sub-delegate of the Junta de Andalucía Government in Campo de Gibraltar, Javier Ros, the territorial delegate for Social Inclusion, Youth, Families, and Equality in Cádiz, Alfonso Candón, and councilwoman Susana González. They were welcomed by the president of the Asansull Group, María Luisa Escribano, and the entity's general coordinator, Ismael Vaca.
This initiative is part of the project ‘We Eat Healthy in Summer Too 2026’, funded by the Regional Ministry of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families, and Equality of the Junta de Andalucía. The grant, amounting to nearly 470,000 euros for the entire Campo de Gibraltar region, is implemented in collaboration with entities such as Centro Contigo, Betania, Coordinadora Alternativas, and Victoria Kent, benefiting a total of 577 minors. The primary objective is to maintain the daily meal and snack service that children receive during the academic year throughout the school holidays.
In La Línea, the collaboration between administrations and the social entity enables the Municipal Social Services to refer approximately 30 minors in vulnerable situations annually. This facilitates their families' access to conciliation resources and promotes equal opportunities within the municipality.
The program, developed at the Virgen del Amparo Special Education Center, is distinguished by its inclusive approach. Of the 90 minors assisted at the La Línea site (out of a total of 130 participants, including the Tarifa site), 52 have a diagnosis of intellectual disability, with 86% having Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The program is tailored to the specific needs of each participant, fostering inclusive coexistence through creative workshops, sports activities, water games, and educational and leisure proposals.
The Asansull Summer School, a pioneer in the province of Cádiz since 2016, has established itself as a provincial benchmark in socio-community care. Additionally, the Virgen del Amparo center hosts the second edition of Concilia en Verano (Conciliate in Summer), a service aimed at facilitating work-life balance for the entity's staff. This year, over 126 applications were received for 60 available places, with priority given to large families, single-parent families, those with dependents, or individuals in vulnerable situations.
