The Cádiz Fire Brigade Consortium has acquired 31 state-of-the-art thermal cameras, distributed among the province's 20 fire stations, with an investment of 94,900 euros. The Jerez station, which already had one unit, now has a total of four HIKMICRO cameras.
These cameras enable firefighters to "see" inside burning buildings by detecting heat, thus locating fire sources, unconscious individuals on the ground, and even gas leaks, according to Consortium Intendant Enrique Vargas. "Technology is an essential ally in emergencies," emphasized Consortium President José Ortiz.
The cameras, featuring an ergonomic design and easy handling with gloves, function reliably in extreme humidity conditions and have an operational autonomy of nearly six hours. They allow for recording and taking photos for post-intervention analysis, as well as measuring temperature to assess access safety to affected areas.
Bluetooth connectivity allows external personnel to monitor the intervention in real-time via a mobile phone, guiding firefighters inside. The presentation event was attended by local and Consortium authorities, who highlighted the improvements in the safety and efficiency of the public service.
The distribution of the new equipment will reinforce the fire stations in Cádiz, Algeciras, and Jerez with four cameras each. Other stations, such as La Línea and El Puerto, will receive two devices.
