The La Almoraima estate and the University of Cádiz have commenced a new archaeological excavation campaign aimed at verifying the presence of a small Roman-era agricultural settlement. Previous studies, including geophysical surveys, had already indicated signs of this enclave.
The current work focuses on confirming the information obtained through survey techniques on the ground, thus seeking to validate the potential existence of the Roman settlement in the area.
This intervention is part of the Arqueoalmoraima project, an initiative integrated into La Almoraima's Strategic Plan. The project aims to continue expanding knowledge about the historical and archaeological heritage of the estate.
Project leaders hope that this new campaign will not only confirm the indications detected by geophysical surveys but also contribute to a greater understanding of Roman settlement in this specific environment, thanks to the collaboration between La Almoraima and the University of Cádiz.
