Rominigue Kouamé is no longer a Cádiz CF player. The midfielder and the Cadiz entity have reached an agreement to terminate their contractual relationship. His time at the club, which began in September 2023, concludes after a loan spell with Chicago Fire of the MLS.
Kouamé joined Cádiz in the summer of 2023 from ESTAC Troyes. The club sought a versatile midfielder, capable of playing as a defensive anchor or in more advanced positions. At his presentation, then technical secretary Borja Lasso highlighted his ball control, passing range, and physical strength.
During the 2023/24 season, Kouamé was part of the squad fighting for survival in the First Division. He participated in the second half of the campaign, although he could not prevent the team's relegation to the Second Division.
Following relegation, the player remained with the team to compete in the 2024/25 season in LALIGA HYPERMOTION. He featured in midfield, alternating between starts and appearances from the bench. Competition from players like Rubén Alcaraz, Fede San Emeterio, and Gonzalo Escalante, among others, influenced his playing time. He also faced attitude issues that led to him being temporarily sidelined.
In January 2025, Cádiz agreed to loan him to Chicago Fire FC until the end of the season, with a purchase option for the American club. This experience in Major League Soccer marked a change of scenery for the midfielder.
However, Chicago Fire ultimately decided not to exercise the purchase option, with the MLS later confirming that the permanent option for Kouamé had been rejected and his loan had expired. Kouamé returned to Cádiz, and the club worked to resolve his contractual situation. Juan Cala explained that the player trained individually while a move was sought, and Cádiz was unwilling to accept just any offer.
Upon his return, Kouamé was back in contention, starting in the 2026/27 league opener against Celta Fortuna, forming a midfield partnership with Damián Rodríguez. He also played some minutes in the last league match against Eldense.
His situation was once again affected by squad restructuring and the search for new midfield reinforcements. During the summer 2026 transfer window, Kouamé was among the players most likely to leave the club.
The Ivorian departs after making 39 official appearances for Cádiz, according to club data. His tenure has been marked by various circumstances, bringing an end to several years with the yellow team and leaving him free to pursue a new professional challenge.
