The yellow club has emerged victorious in a competitive bidding process for the attacker, reaching an agreement with Athletic de Bilbao and the player himself. The operation, which experienced several ups and downs and the alleged intervention of Mallorca with a higher offer, was finally successfully concluded for the Cádiz entity.
The new striker signs a five-year contract, until 2031, and will join Imanol Idiakez's squad for preseason training. The club considers his signing a strong bet to bolster the attack, stating that "the goal has a new owner".
Izeta began his career at Vitoria and played for Arenas de Getxo and Amorebieta before joining Athletic's reserve team in the winter of the 2022-23 season. In 2023-24, he scored 21 goals in Segunda Federación, and in 2024-25, he was loaned to Mirandés in the second division, where he netted 15 goals, including three in the promotion playoffs to La Liga.
His performance earned him a place in the Athletic first team for the 2025-26 season, although he had limited playing time. The player has decided to join Cádiz CF for greater prominence.
Izeta thus becomes the eighth signing of the summer transfer market for Cádiz CF, joining Jokin Ezkieta, Vladys Kopotun, Beñat de Jesús, Kenan Toibibou, Javi Castro, Ibon Sánchez, and Antoñito Cordero.
In his first statements as a Cádiz player, distributed by the club, Izeta expressed "great enthusiasm and eagerness to face this new challenge and wear the yellow jersey that we like so much".
With this arrival, the forward line of the Andalusian team now consists of four players: Álvaro García Pascual, Jerónimo Dómina, Vladys Kopotun, and Urko Izeta himself.
