Justice has sided with two local police officers in Cádiz, dismissing a complaint of alleged assault and abusive treatment. The events date back to November 5, 2025, when officers intervened in an unsanitary situation caused by a citizen feeding pigeons on San Rafael Street, near San Rafael Hospital.
The complaint, filed by the sister and guardian of the person involved, alleged that the plainclothes officers forced her into her home and monitored her, causing an anxiety attack. However, the court ruling determined that there was no physical contact or use of violence by the officers.
“"There was no physical contact or use of violence whatsoever."
The trial, held in late February at the Cádiz Court of First Instance, revealed contradictions in the complainant's testimony. Several witnesses and security camera footage confirmed the officers' version, refuting the assault allegations. The police intervention was justified by neighborhood and hospital area complaints, concerned about public health risks from accumulated droppings.
The ruling also noted that the person's disability was not easily noticeable and that the alleged push could not be proven. Given the lack of evidence and inconsistencies, the two local police officers have been acquitted and reserve the right to take legal action for damage to their honor.
