The streets of San Fernando were filled with history on September 24th, with the participation of reenactment associations and their period costumes. The day included the traditional flag raising and the Tapas Fair, which returned to Almirante Laulhé park with thirteen establishments and fifty gastronomic offerings.
However, public attendance was notably lower than in previous years. The flag-raising ceremony in the Iglesia square, conducted by the Marine Infantry, drew a small crowd at ten in the morning. Despite this, attendees applauded upon hearing 'Ganando barlovento' and seeing the participating sections of the Tercio de la Armada parade, dressed in 19th-century historical uniforms.
Members of the historical-cultural association 24 de Septiembre recreated the painting of the Oath by Casado del Alisal in the Iglesia Mayor Parroquial, reproducing the scene that took place 216 years ago. In the afternoon, they relived other historical events at the Theater.
The Foundation Legado de Las Cortes also participated with prior activities such as the Cortes Cannon Shot and the children's Drum Parade. During the day, they presented an educational exhibition at Compañía de María about the defense of the Isla de León during the Napoleonic siege.
