The councilor for Culture of the Puerto Real City Council, along with the president of the Peña Flamenca Canalejas, have presented this new edition of the traditional competition. This contest has become one of the most significant flamenco events in the locality.
The program will commence on May 15 at 9:30 PM with the inaugural address, which will take place at the peña's headquarters, located on San Alejandro street. The president of the Literary Ateneo of Puerto Real will deliver the speech.
The first semifinal will feature artists from various locations, who will perform this characteristic flamenco style. Semifinals will be held every Friday, except for the fair Friday, and will begin at 9:30 PM.
“"This competition demonstrates the commitment of the peña and the city council to promoting and disseminating flamenco, an art that is an essential part of our culture."
The final is scheduled for August 8, where six contestants will compete for four cash prizes, ranging from 1,500 euros for first place to 500 euros for fourth place. Additionally, two free prizes have been established for other flamenco styles and palos, also with economic endowments. The registration period for interested parties was open until May 12.
Musical accompaniment will be provided by guitarists from Puerto Real and Copenhagen, who will add an international touch to the competition without losing the essence of flamenco roots. The event is organized by the Peña Flamenca Canalejas and the Culture delegation of the Puerto Real City Council, and has the collaboration of the Provincial Culture Foundation of the Cádiz Provincial Council.
