The virtual exhibition ‘Pacific Dreams’, by artist Bern Foster, has been inaugurated and can be visited on the Fundación Vipren website (www.fundacionvipren.com). The event was attended by the municipal delegate for Culture, Susana Rivas, and the president of Fundación Vipren, Miguel González.
Susana Rivas praised the work of Fundación Vipren in promoting local talent and highlighted Bern Foster as an example of how to achieve the dream of becoming an artist. She noted that the city has many talented individuals and these exhibitions are key to showcasing them.
For his part, Miguel González reviewed the author's professional and artistic career, thanking the foundation for the trust placed in them to disseminate his work.
Bern Foster explained his beginnings in art, a hobby he developed after moving to England. He detailed how he gradually defined his style, influenced by his favorite authors, and how brands began to seek him out through his personal portfolio.
Bernardo Bejerano Narváez, artistically known as Bern Foster, is a Spanish illustrator born in Cádiz in 1986 and originally from Chiclana. His work is characterized by a retro and vibrant aesthetic, inspired by nostalgia and the allure of capitalism. Childhood memories, late 1980s television commercials, films, and pop culture were sources of inspiration for his style.
Despite his passion for illustration, Foster began his career as an engineer in 2012. In 2015, he returned to his hobby, funding it with his earnings as an engineer, until illustrating became his profession. He learned through self-discipline, adopting techniques and influences from illustrators such as Hajime Sorayama and Bob Peak.
He primarily works with acrylic paint, using airbrush techniques when necessary. His use of traditional painting techniques to achieve his style sets him apart from countless digital artists, making him almost unique globally. His works, while not carrying profound deep meaning, immediately attract the viewer with their composition and vibrant colors, making his work highly commercial and appealing to marketing and advertising companies.
He undertook his first commissions in 2016 for small private clients and independent companies, such as album covers and promotional content for social media. However, it was his personal portfolio and aesthetic that attracted potential clients in the fashion and music industries. He has collaborated with luxury brands like Nude Project and Reina Olga Beachwear, and has illustrated for Warner Records in the United States and bands like TWRP.
More recently, Bern has expanded his reach, working for brands such as Sprinter Vodka Soda and Kylie Cosmetics, both associated with model and entrepreneur Kylie Jenner. Bern Foster's works are described as a gateway to West Coast dreams and an escape to magical times in history.
