The mayor of Chiclana, José María Román, and the delegate for Sports, Isabel Butrón, have visited the new facilities at the Costa Sancti Petri Urban Sports Center. The new gym represents an investment of 137,468.01 euros for the leasing of machinery over the next four years.
Following the sports center's reopening in March 2024 under direct City Council management, after being closed for four years due to abandonment by the concessionaire company, the municipal government has focused on improving the facilities. Initially, 300,000 euros were invested in general improvements and equipment acquisition, and in June, the functional training room opened with a 45,000 euro investment.

This municipal facility has had a difficult history of administrative concession and closure, which we have had to resolve. Little by little, we continue to work to ensure these facilities function at 100 percent again, as one of the improvements for Chiclana. In Chiclana, we have magnificent sports facilities with intense use, but to achieve this, we must offer very high quality."
The mayor of Chiclana emphasized the importance of sports in Chiclana, highlighting the extensive team of workers serving users to ensure everyone can enjoy sports and stay fit.
The new gym is equipped with four professional treadmills, four elliptical machines, three upright bikes, two recumbent bikes, two rowing machines, four indoor cycling bikes, and various strength machines including a vertical chest press, vertical chest contractor, assisted dip and pull-up machine, shoulder press, opening and deltoid machine, dual biceps and triceps machine, multi-station, seated row machine, seated abdominal machine, calf and soleus machine, quadriceps extension machine, abductor machine, hip machine, leg press machine, hip thrust machine (plate loaded), squat rack, max rack, and leg press machine.
Additionally, users have access to benches for lumbar hyperextension, flat, horizontal Olympic, incline press, decline press, multi-position, Scott bench, two crunch abdominal benches (multi-position), two weight plate racks, a bar rack, two dumbbell racks, 64 Olympic weight plates of varying weights, 19 barbells, 48 rubber hexagonal dumbbells, and 24 grips.
This new facility complements the previous investment of 345,000 euros made to restore the center to normal operation after its four-year closure.
