Chiclana's summer cultural program continues this week with various events for all audiences. This Tuesday, the Plaza Mayor will feature the puppet show ‘El brujito de Gulugú’ at 9:00 PM, presented by the company ‘El retablo de la ventana’. The performance tells the story of a wizard who tries to transform the world into sweets but fails due to a missing ingredient.
On Wednesday the 29th, the Teatro Moderno will host the family play ‘A la gloria con Gloria Fuertes’, by the Teatro de Malta company. This clown-inspired production is based on the verses of the renowned writer, exploring themes of deep questions, laughter, and tenderness through characters Doña Pito Piturra and Mr. Antropelli, who aim to bring animals back to the Crocodile Circus.
The play is an initiative by Marta Torres, director of Teatro de Malta, to revitalize the work of Gloria Fuertes, a project that began in 2003. The company has previously staged nearly 550 performances with shows like ‘De viaje por Gloria Fuertes’ and ‘Alegría, palabra de Gloria Fuertes’. The current production includes live music with instruments such as tambourines, ukuleles, and melodicas, and addresses poems about animals, the writer herself, and her pacifist work.
Tickets for ‘A la gloria con Gloria Fuertes’, starting at 9:30 PM, are priced at €10 (€8 in advance) and are available at the theater's box office and online at www.giglon.com.
On Friday the 31st, the Alameda del río will host the first summer concert by the Maestro Enrique Montero Music Band, conducted by Manolo Forero. This concert, starting at 9:00 PM, is the first of four scheduled for the summer season, with subsequent dates on August 7th, 14th, and 28th. The band will perform a diverse repertoire including zarzuelas, pasodobles, classical and contemporary music, and film soundtracks.
