The mayor of Chiclana, José María Román, has welcomed the 20 new Local Police officers who are now undertaking internships in the municipality after completing their theoretical training at the IESPA. During the event, they were presented with bulletproof vests.
The mayor of Chiclana, José María Román, accompanied by the municipal delegate for Local Police, José Vera, and the chief superintendent of the Local Police, Javier Durán, has welcomed the 20 new Local Police officers who are currently interning in the municipality. These officers have completed their theoretical training at the IESPA.
It is recalled that out of the 26 positions offered last year, six officers already joined due to mobility or prior course completion. The remaining 20 are now beginning their internship period after the theoretical phase.

"Hopefully, the bulletproof vest will never be necessary, but it is very important that our officers are prepared and uniformed as they should be. It is now time to go out on the street and patrol Chiclana, taking advantage of the summer, a time when the population triples and all personnel are always few."
The mayor highlighted the importance of the officers' preparation and uniform, noting that summer is a key time for patrolling due to the population increase.

"All the best wishes to face this new and very beautiful professional stage, especially if you have a vocation for public service. From this government team, we will continue working to increase the Local Police force with 24 new positions by the end of the year and so on in the coming years. Thus, we want to recover the situation of a staff, where many will move to second activity and others will retire in the coming years."
Román encouraged the officers in their new professional stage and reaffirmed the government team's commitment to continue increasing the Local Police force in the coming years, with 24 new positions planned by the end of this year, to compensate for retirements and moves to second activity.

"The city needs these new officers, and now in the summer, they will begin the practical application of the theory they have learned at IESPA. All of this so that they can go out on the street fully trained."
For his part, chief superintendent Javier Durán highlighted the city's need for these new officers and stressed that the summer internships will ensure they go out on the street fully trained.
These officers will be permanently incorporated into the local force once this internship phase is completed.
