The intervention, which involved an investment of 187,384.70 euros (VAT included), primarily aimed to optimize rainwater drainage in the area. This is achieved by preventing rainwater from entering the sewage network, thereby reducing overloads at the Marconi pumping station during intense rainfall episodes.
Thanks to the new collector and its interconnections, rainwater is now directed to the large-capacity collector located on Avenida Lacave. This improvement optimizes the network's performance, reduces the volume of rainwater that needs to be pumped to the treatment plant, and consequently lowers associated energy consumption.
The work also included the renovation of part of the supply network by installing new PVC pipes of various diameters in Sor Cristina López García, Setenil de las Bodegas, and Grazalema streets. Additionally, 20 prefabricated inspection wells have been constructed to facilitate the inspection and maintenance of the sanitation network.
Aguas de Cádiz also took the opportunity to replace approximately 100 meters of an old fibrocement supply pipe with a new ductile iron pipe, a material offering greater flexibility and durability.
Following the completion of the network upgrades, the sidewalks and pavements affected by the works have been restored, covering an area of approximately 1,320 square meters. This completion represents a further enhancement of the hydraulic infrastructure in the Cerro del Moro neighborhood and advances more efficient management of rainwater and wastewater.
