The main renovation works for the hydraulic infrastructure on General Luque Street, in the historic center of Cádiz, will commence in January. This decision was made to minimize disruption to economic activity during the crucial Christmas shopping season.
The project, awarded to the company Martín Casillas, S.L.U. for 195,394.62 euros (VAT included), has an estimated execution period of three months. Prior to the main commencement, preparatory work will take place in November, including the rehabilitation of collectors using the continuous liner system and the installation of temporary pipelines to ensure service continuity.
The intervention involves replacing the current supply line with a new 100-millimeter diameter ductile iron pipe, connected to existing networks in adjacent streets. Additionally, the sanitation collector will be renewed using the trenchless continuous liner system, along with the upgrade of domestic connections, inspection chambers, drains, and valves.
A temporary water supply will be provided during the works. The project also includes the comprehensive renewal of the paving on General Luque Street, with existing granite cobblestones being recovered and reused, and sidewalks being redone to create a single platform that enhances accessibility.
Aguas de Cádiz has briefed residents and businesses on the project's planning, work phases, and has addressed their concerns. The modernization of these networks aims to improve efficiency, reliability, and reduce the risk of breakdowns in the historic quarter.
