The Councilor for Citizen Participation, Gema Lara, welcomed the eight Saharan minors who will spend the summer in the municipality. The “Holidays in Peace” program, promoted by the Association for Aid to the Sahrawi People with the collaboration of the City Council, seeks to offer them an opportunity to enjoy childhood experiences such as playing and swimming, away from the harsh desert conditions.
The reception event took place at the Bellavista municipal pool, where the minors and their host families shared a day of coexistence. Lara thanked the families for their commitment, highlighting their generosity in providing resources, care, and a family environment for the children during the summer. She encouraged other families to join this initiative in future editions.
The Martos City Council facilitates work-life balance for host families through municipal resources, such as summer programs and free access to the municipal pool. During the reception, each minor received a backpack with school supplies and toys as a welcome gift.
The councilor concluded by expressing the hope that more children will be able to enjoy happy holidays in Martos next year.
