The Jaén City Council has taken the first step in processing the urbanization project for an extensive 200,000 m2 area. This development, situated between the Bulevar and the road to Fuerte del Rey, plans for the construction of 1,100 homes and is being driven by a local developer group. The Urban Planning Department approved the start of this procedure, which had been pending for two decades, after the land was archaeologically cleared.
The Councilor for Urban Planning, África Colomo, highlighted that the goal is for the installation of basic services, such as lighting and sanitation, to commence by the end of this year. The project anticipates the construction of various types of housing, in addition to 35,000 m2 of green spaces and areas for commercial activity.
Colomo stated that the technical team of the Urban Planning Department has worked to provide legal certainty to the project, calling it one of the most significant urban developments in the city over the last 15 years. The recent de-designation of a drove road by the Junta de Andalucía completes the land's availability, facilitating future urbanization.
This development will involve an investment of 17 million euros in its construction, which will translate into significant job creation and economic activity for the capital and the province. The area will accommodate single-family homes and apartments, green spaces, tertiary land for commerce and restoration (10,000 m2), endowment use (25,000 m2), and over 800 parking spaces.
