The Ciudad de Porcuna Emerging Bands Contest (CBE) has announced its two finalists for its 28th edition: Duendes del Parke, from Barcelona, and Izeta, from Granada. Both acts will compete in the MiaqueFest 2026 final, having been chosen from a pool of 256 groups across Spain, highlighting the contest's national standing.
The Miaque Cultural Association, co-organizer with the City Council of Porcuna, acknowledged the difficulty of the selection. The six semifinalists included Duendes del Parke, Álamo 51 (Murcia), T-Lenoir Rock (Madrid), Roswell (Linares), Izeta, and Sarajevo 84 (both from Granada). The semifinals were held between March and May in various venues in Porcuna, although one had to be postponed due to adverse weather conditions, which also led to a change in participating groups.
This year's edition introduces format changes, reducing the number of semifinalists from eight to six and finalists from three to two, aiming to energize the competition and elevate its standard. The prize money has also increased, with 1,500 euros for the winner and 1,000 euros for the runner-up.
“"Choosing only two for the final has been an almost impossible task."
Since its inception in 1998, the CBE Ciudad de Porcuna has served as a launchpad for bands that are now well-established, such as Guadalupe Plata, Supersanwich, La Barca de Sua, and Trasthucada, among many others. In 2025, the first prize was awarded to Granada's El Niño Delta.
