The Provincial Council of Córdoba, through its Delegation of Infrastructures, Sustainability, and Agriculture, is undertaking actions valued at 1,300,000 euros to improve and repair various communication routes affecting the municipality of Villa del Río.
One of the notable projects is the improvement of the semi-urban section of the CP-180 De La Vega, with an investment of 100,000 euros. This initiative includes the expansion and creation of a 1.5-meter platform on its right bank to establish a safe pedestrian area, enhancing access to industrial facilities and the municipal funeral home.
The head of the Area, Andrés Lorite, emphasized that the goal is to boost road safety through active and pedestrian mobility in this urban environment, which currently poses risks due to heavy vehicle traffic.
The mayor of Villa del Río, Jesús Morales, highlighted the importance of this upgrade for creating a safe pedestrian access to the funeral home, a private facility providing public service, which was previously only accessible by vehicle due to the narrowness of the road.
Additionally, work is underway on the partial repair of the CO-4103, connecting Bujalance with Villa del Río (600,000 euros), and the CO-5104, from Villa del Río to Cañete de las Torres (630,000 euros). These projects address municipal demands to improve road safety, pavement, and drainage.
The works on the CO-4103 cover approximately 3 kilometers, addressing pavement deformations and drainage deficiencies. On the CO-5104, spanning 7.6 km, the pavement, drainage, and signage have been improved, including slope protection.
Lorite stressed the collaboration between administrations for the development of this area, highlighting the need to ensure pedestrian mobility and reduce reliance on motorized vehicles, especially on routes with constant heavy vehicle traffic.
