The traditional 'Diablilla' of Montoro has escaped again through the town's streets, starring in one of the most anticipated moments of the San Bartolomé 2026 Festivities. At midday, the figure descended from the tower of the San Bartolomé parish church, landing in the Plaza de España before the watchful eyes of thousands of residents and visitors.
During its route, the 'Diablilla' interacted with attendees, pulling the hair of the youngest and distributing candies. The festive day also included a Grand Children's Water Party in the Plaza de España, with slides, a ball pit, inflatables, and games.
“"Terrifying" all the residents and visitors of Montoro."
The event proceeded without notable incidents and with mild temperatures for August in Montoro, one of the hottest towns in Spain. The maximum temperature recorded was 35 degrees Celsius, according to Aemet.
The 'Diablilla' will remain loose for the next 24 hours. The festival program for this Monday, August 24, includes visits to the Jesús Nazareno Residence, a popular breakfast, the collection of the 'Diablilla', and a DJ EDO + ColorFest event with a mechanical bull. The day will conclude with a Grand Foam Party in the Plaza de España.
