The Culture Department of the Villa del Río City Council has announced the premiere, held last night at the Parroquia de la Inmaculada Concepción, of «Estampas de lo Sagrado». This work, by composer Emilio Arroyo Fernández from Villa del Río, is inspired by the spiritual, artistic, and devotional heritage of the parish's images.
The evening united music, heritage, and devotion, offering the public a new way to connect with images that are part of the memory and tradition of generations of Villa del Río residents. «Estampas de lo Sagrado» is a hagiographic cycle composed of fourteen 'estampas' (prints/scenes) and a final coda, where each image acquires its own sonic universe.
Before the performance of each 'estampa', the author himself, Emilio Arroyo, provided introductory explanations, detailing the meaning of each composition and the relationship between its musical and religious elements, allowing for a deeper understanding of the inspiration and symbolism of each piece.
The performance was carried out by the Capilla «Sabit» Chamber Group from Córdoba, composed of Francisco Moreno (oboe), Javier Povedano (clarinet), and Jesús Villa (bassoon). These musicians brought Emilio Arroyo's musical creation to life for the first time, guiding a sonic journey through the devotional heritage of the parish.
The event was presented by Sergio Aranda and attended by the mayor of Villa del Río and head of the Culture department, Jesús Morales Molina, along with priests Francky Yacinthe, Víctor José Morón Illanes, and Manuel Tirado Fernández, boards of local Brotherhoods and Confraternities, family members, the parish community, and the attending public.
This night was particularly significant for Emilio Arroyo, who presented his work in his hometown, paying a special tribute to the spiritual and artistic heritage of the Parroquia de la Inmaculada Concepción through music.
«Estampas de lo Sagrado» was sponsored by the Culture Department of the Villa del Río City Council, as part of its commitment to supporting cultural creation and valuing local heritage and talent. The Culture Department congratulated Emilio Arroyo Fernández and the Capilla «Sabit» Group, and thanked the Parroquia de la Inmaculada Concepción and the parish community for their participation.
Villa del Río thus adds a new musical creation born from its roots, heritage, and devotion.
