The fire began around 2:52 PM when a truck traveling towards Granada caught fire on the A44 highway, near kilometer 171, close to the Rules reservoir in the municipality of Lanjarón.
The flames from the vehicle quickly spread, igniting a forest fire that has advanced towards a hill adjacent to the highway, in the Paraje de la Presa de Rules.
In response to the severity of the fire, the Infoca Plan has deployed aerial resources, including a light and a semi-heavy helicopter, to combat the flames from the sky. On the ground, a team of forest firefighters, a Brica unit, an operations technician, and an environmental agent are working.
Due to the ongoing extinction efforts, the A44 highway is closed in the direction of Granada, causing traffic disruptions in the area.
