The JUPOL union has strongly criticized the Ministry of the Interior regarding the Temporary Attribution of Functions call. According to the organization, the 33 officers assigned to reinforce the Port and Almeria Airport are forced to pay for their own accommodation and living expenses during the peak tourist season.
The call requires police officers to sign a document waiving any future financial claims. With 33 vacancies offered, Almeria stands as one of the locations with the highest reinforcement load, matching Malaga and exceeding other critical points such as Algeciras or Motril.
“"It is intolerable that a national security operation is expected to be sustained at the expense of the personal and financial sacrifice of the officers."
The police staff points out that this measure is a stopgap for the lack of structural personnel in the province. Furthermore, they denounce a comparative grievance regarding other security forces and regret that officers assigned to this operation will not be able to take their regular vacations, leading to widespread demotivation.
