The property, purchased by Zapatero in 2007 and sold in 2011, served as the registered office for companies owned by brothers Manuel and Julio Martínez. These companies are under investigation by the Economic and Fiscal Crimes Unit (UDEF) of the National Police for allegedly receiving funds from Plus Ultra through other entities following the airline's multi-million euro bailout.
The villa, located in the El Mirador de Vera urbanization, was bought by Zapatero for 440,000 euros and sold for 280,000 euros, a significant loss which the former president attributed to its location in a flood-prone area. Despite having sold it, the property has resurfaced in a judicial context, placing it at the center of a corporate network.
The Central Court of Instruction of Madrid has identified Voli Analítica, whose initial headquarters was precisely this villa, as an instrument for channeling funds from Plus Ultra. The company, which later changed its business object to air transport brokerage, was managed by Manuel Martínez and subsequently by his brother Julio Martínez.
Other companies belonging to the Martínez brothers, such as APS Rentas SL, also used the property as their fiscal address. Both entities moved their registered office to Elda (Alicante) in January 2024, coinciding with the completion of reports for the airline.
The judge considers Julio Martínez, administrator of 16 companies, as the "principal lieutenant" of an organization that, following instructions from the former president, sought to obtain economic benefits through intermediation and the exercise of influence with public bodies, primarily in favor of Plus Ultra.
