The Professional Football League (LFP) has announced that the penultimate matchday of the Second Division will be played entirely at a unified time. This match will be one of the last two of the regular competition.
The decision to unify schedules has not been applied to matchday 40, which has generated some controversy. On this matchday, teams such as Racing, Deportivo, and UDA, who are competing for direct promotion, will play on different days. While the Cantabrians and Almerians will play their matches on Saturday, May 16, at 6:30 PM against Real Valladolid and Las Palmas, respectively, the Galician team will host Andorra on Sunday, May 17, at 2:00 PM.
The Almerians' visit to Asturian territory will coincide with other key matches such as Real Valladolid-Deportivo de la Coruña and Málaga-Racing de Santander. For the final matchday, number 42, Almería will host Real Valladolid at the Estadio de los Juegos Mediterráneos, Deportivo will do the same with Las Palmas at Riazor, and Racing will finish the season at El Sardinero against Cádiz. The schedules for these last matches are still to be determined.
