The Almería Fair continues to highlight its cultural roots with various activities. The Traditional Almerian Costume and Folklore Encounter, now in its tenth edition, and a new, recently created event in Puerta de Purchena, have been central.
Over a hundred people, from different folklore groups, cultural associations, and academies integrated into Indanza, performed the ‘Fandanguillo de Almería’. The event was attended by the mayor María del Mar Vázquez, accompanied by councilors Paola Laynez and Eloísa Cabrera.
Following the performance, participants paraded through the Midday Fair, showcasing various examples of traditional Almerian attire from the 18th and 19th centuries. The mayor emphasized the importance of making these traditions visible and supporting them to preserve them in the city's collective memory.
Traditional Almerian costume is also on display at an exhibition in the CIP, featuring mannequins and informative panels. Additionally, members of folklore groups participated in the Battle of Flowers dressed in historical costumes.
The fair's program includes the gala of the 10th Traditional Almerian Costume and Folklore Encounter, to be held at the Plaza de la Constitución, where the characteristics of historical clothing will be explained and four folklore groups will perform.
