Since early Monday morning, personnel from the Levante Almeriense Fire Consortium, Civil Guard, health services, Civil Protection, and Local Police of Níjar have been involved in a ground and air search in the vicinity of the AL-5106 road, in the Fernán Pérez area.
The alert was received around 10:00 AM via the automatic notification system of an iPhone, reporting a person trapped after a possible aerial impact. The approximate location of the incident was pinpointed to this rural area.
The situation has been reported to the Air Traffic Control Center, the Coordination and Rescue Center in Madrid, and Maritime Rescue. Despite efforts, including several helicopters flying over the area and ground searches, no evidence of any aircraft has been found so far.
Sources close to the investigation, given the lack of physical findings and emergency communications, suggest it could be a false alarm generated by the phone itself, either intentionally or accidentally. However, the operation continues its active search while data is cross-referenced with air traffic control and the Air Force's radar systems. AENA has confirmed no registered missing aircraft with a flight plan.
